This mic is open-sounding and very detailed, but not hyped or harsh. Even without the FET/tube signal-path blending, the many different low-frequency rolloff settings and polar patterns provide exceptional sonic adjustability. This is the first Lewitt I’ve tried, but it won’t be the last—I’m very impressed that a single mic can give this degree of versatility, and fit so well with a wide range of sound sources. Is the flagship model of Lewitt’s Authentica series a case of Lewitt or leave it?
...More significantly, though, the 640 dealt impressively with everything we threw at it – exactly what we’d expect from a C414. Without ever sounding hyped, the 640 captured detailed, natural-sounding recordings with a true sense of refinement...The Lewitt LCT 640 is obviously designed to meet the big boys head-on – and frankly, they’d better watch out. Lewitt LCT640: The Holy Grail?
The Lewitt LCT 640 is the most versatile microphone I have ever used. I couldn’t get this mic to sound bad on anything. It was just way too easy to get a quality sound. Present, clear, and soft are the words that come to mind when describing this amazing microphone. It also has incredibly low self-noise. Noise was never an issue even at higher gain levels. I can’t even really give specific placement or usage tips because it’s just so easy to get a good sound with this mic. Let your vocalist practically eat and spit on the microphone; it sounds good. Have your vocalist sing from 1–2 feet away; it sounds good. I rarely find it this easy to get such a fantastic sound with other microphones. Amazing sound and build quality, HPF, pad, and 5 polar patterns all for the street price of $800!? That’s insane! If you’ve been searching for the holy grail of all-purpose, versatile microphones look no further. Well, at least, MY search has ended here.

Lewitt LCT 240Should I Buy One?The LCT is a very good vocal mic but it is also capable of recording virtually anything from drums, acoustic guitar, guitar amps, wind instruments, piano etc. This feels like a very versatile and well made microphone with simple yet effective features that are very user friendly. The compact size is also welcome, condenser mics by their very nature can be somewhat unwieldy and whether you are working on a small stage or in a cramped project studio you need a mic that will travel well whilst also being physically unobtrusive as possible. The LCT 240 microphone delivers a more than acceptable performance for a reasonable price. We’d always recommend that you try it before making your final choice but as it stands, this is a very good microphone that offers excellent value for money. The Good BitsSmooth sounds, user-friendly design The Not So Good BitsLittle to fault, especially at this price.

Lewitt DTP Beat Kit Pro 7 KitThe LCT 340s are clearly up there with some of the best condenser mics on the market, picking up every tiny nuance in quiet passages whilst coping smoothly with barrages of equally challenging flat-out drum and cymbal fury. It wasn't just the fact that they dealt with spectrum-wide shifts in dynamics, it was the quality of the sound that they gave while doing so. MusicRadar Rating4 / 5 starsProsNo bass drum phasing issues. The condenser mics are some of the best we've tried. Great sound quality. ConsThe cost, but you get what you pay for..VerdictLewitt's combined audio experience is evident in the Pro 7 kit. The innovative designs, road-proof build and excellent sound reproduction add up to a seriously impressive set of drum mics. Read the entire review HERE |
